At SoulCycle riders play one pound weights around the bike, concurrently firming top of the body and core, states Elizabeth Cutler, SoulCycle co-founder. SoulCycle originates all actions in the core. Rather than being only a lower workout that develops leg muscles, at SoulCycle, riders originate all their actions using their CORE, so riders finish track of strong, tight abs rather than a push Lower (like typical indoor cycling classes) SoulCycles workouts are a pull-up to tighten, strengthen and define your ABS. Besides dealing with weights, the SoulCycle ride includes modified push-ups and core twists all and keep your ft pedaling and rocking to a mixture of pop and stylish hop hits. When the instructor states to show in the resistance and you're simply working at the capacity, it's okay to show it lower. At this time SoulCycle has 7 galleries within the NY area and Miami, but is going to LA in The month of january and it is likely to open in Washington D.C. Bursting within the Seams: 'New Year's Eve' together with other Movies With Many Different Stars
Nicole Kidman. . Halle Berry. Hilary Swank. Zac Efron. Robert P Niro. Jessica Biel. Katherine Heigl. Jon Bon Jovi. Sofia Vergara. Michelle Pfeiffer. What can a number of these stars share? They all are jammed into 'New Year's Eve,' the newest movie to stuff as much stars as you possibly can towards the screen. This isn't the first time Hollywood has corralled a hefty helping of stars into one flick. It's a pretty safe strategy if the involves tempting people towards the theaters ultimately, you will discover plenty of people open to go to the films to find out, well, stars. And 'New Year's Eve' seems to own someone for everyone: Heigl and Bon Jovi for your rom-com fans, SJP for your moms, Jum Michele for your Gleeks and Efron for your teenage women. Sadly, lots of stars could come in the fee for any good plot. Watching 'New Year's Eve,' for instance, feels as being similar to watching clips from eight different movies all spliced together ... while using periodic overlap, clearly. Furthermore, it seems as though casting stars needed priority over casting stars who've been suitable for the roles they were cast in. It is not easy to purchase Jum Michele and becoming an item -- no matter how cozy they've been acting together round the red-colored-colored carpets lately to market this flick. 'New Year's Eve' features another incredibly unbelievable pairing, but tell you who the unlikely duo is might be giving a lot of away. Around Personally, i can't stand not practical casting, Personally, i can't stand jerks who spoiler movies a lot more. Lots Of Stars: Hits and Misses Simply how much is just too much if the involves jamming large names into one movie? It appears to become delicate formula that could use either situation... Miss: 'New Year's Eve'Hit: 'Love, Really'Miss: 'He's Not That Into You'Hit: 'Crash'Miss: 'Nine'Hit: 'Ocean's Eleven'Miss: 'Ocean's Twelve'Hit: 'Contagion'Miss: 'Valentine's Day' See All Moviefone Galleries » Sometimes, however, getting plenty of stars works. Here's an example: 'Ocean's Eleven.' The ensemble cast incorporated Hollywood heavyweights like Kaira Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon and Jennifer Aniston. But due to their great chemistry together with a powerful script, the star overload didn't detract within the movie. Every character had a crucial role to sign up within the script's overarching plotline: the heist. It didn't appear such as the figures had extraneous moments only to easily fit into more screen time for one of the megastars. When the stars align as well as the celebrity-studded movies work, it's actually a beautiful factor. If this doesn't work, things will get pretty confusing with many different sub-plots going onto justify jamming all people large names towards the poster. We now have come up with a gallery highlighting most likely the wedding movies that are filled with stars in recent memory -- the truly amazing, unhealthy as well as the completely ugly. MythBusters Mistake Sends Cannonball Through House, Van
First Published: December 7, 2011 12:08 PM EST Credit: Getty Images Caption Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman attend The Paley Center for Medias An Evening with The Discovery Channels MythBusters on June 13, 2011 in Beverly HillsDUBLIN, Calif. -- A stunt for the TV show MythBusters sent an errant cannonball through a California familys house and into a parked minivan a few hundred feet away. Producers for the Discovery Channel show fired the cannonball Tuesday at the Alameda County Sheriffs Department bomb range behind the Santa Rita Jail when it misfired. Sheriffs spokesman J.D. Nelson told the Contra Costa Times that no one was injured and the homes residents didnt even wake up until the dust was settled literally on top of them. Nelson, who is also a consultant for the show, said producers have used the cannon that they built at the range more than 50 times without incident. The cannonball was supposed to go through a few water-filled barrels and a concrete wall. Instead, it passed over the barrels, through the wall, and then took a very unfortunate bounce that sent the ball skyward, Nelson said. About 700 feet away, it bounced in front of the Dublin home, then tore through the front door and out a wall on the back of the house. The projectile then bounced at least once more and crossed the road before smashing the window and dashboard of the minivan, where it came to rest. We had some tremendous bad luck and some tremendous good luck in that no one was hurt, Nelson said. Jasbir Gill, who owns the minivan, said he and his children had just gotten home. Its scary, Gill said. I was in the van five minutes before this happened. Nelson said he did not know the exact size, speed or weight of the cannonball. The show, according to the Discovery Channel website, mixes scientific method with gleeful curiosity and plain old-fashioned ingenuity to create (its) own signature style of explosive experimentation. Disney Channel's 'Good Luck Charlie' Holiday Movie Strikes Ratings Gold
Marni Grossman/CBS"Blue Bloods" It was another down week in the ratings following Black Friday, even with football as one of the programming choices on broadcast. CBS continued its reign atop a sleepy Friday, up against Fox's telecast of the first Pac-12 championship game between the Oregon Ducks and the UCLA Bruins. (Ducks won the game handily.) Averaging a 1.4 rating in the key 18-49 demo during primetime, CBS' lineup slipped across the board from their last originals -- with Blue Bloods seeing the biggest drop. A Gifted Man (8 million total viewers, 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 demographic) hovered around its usual demo home, but compared to two weeks ago, was down a tenth. CSI: NY (9.7 million, 1.4) dropped two tenths, while Blue Bloods (11 million, 1.6) plunged. Even so, CBS either tied (A Gifted Man) for No. 1 or won its hours (CSI: NY, Blue Bloods). Following CBS was Fox with the Ducks-Bruins football game. From 8-10 p.m., the matchup didn't prove to be a big draw as 4.3 million tuned in and the network averaged a 1.3. ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (4.8 million, 1.2) dipped slightly and Katie Couric's big 20/20 interview (4.5 million, 1.3) with a pregnant Beyonce didn't infuse a new energy at 10 p.m. ABC placed third on the night with a 1.2 average. The CW's midseason finale of Nikita (1.7 million, 0.5) dropped, while Supernatural (1.9 million, 0.7) held firm. NBC's telecast of Game of Your Life (2.2 million, 0.6) wasn't a ratings winner; Dateline (4.1 million, 1.0) followed with a steep drop. 8 p.m. Fox: Pac-12 Championship Game (4.3 million viewers, 1.3 rating in adults 18-49) CBS: A Gifted Man (8 million, 1.2) ABC: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (4.8 million, 1.2) NBC: Game of Your Life (2.2 million, 0.6) The CW: Nikita (1.7 million, 0.5) 9 p.m. CBS: CSI: NY (9.7 million, 1.4) The CW: Supernatural (1.9 million, 0.7) 10 p.m. CBS: Blue Bloods (11 million, 1.6) ABC: 20/20 (4.5 million, 1.3) NBC: Dateline (4.1 million, 1.0) PHOTO GALLERY: View Gallery Fall TV Death Pool: Will 'Charlie's Angels,' 'Whitney' or 'How to Be a Gentleman' Be Axed First? SeeFlik launches short film competitions
Aiming to provide a showcase for emerging filmmakers, newly minted SeeFlik is launching a pair of online short film competitions. The contests -- a Judge's Award and a Fans Favorite -- will be open only to students who attend or are within five years of graduation from accredited undergraduate or graduate film programs. SeeFlik, headed by longtime industry Larry Meli, touted the contests as a "farm system" for the entertainment industry. "Tens of thousands of emerging artists and filmmakers graduate from college each year and have few options other than the traditional film festivals to have their voices heard," Meli said. The first round of the contests will conclude on Feb. 29 with winners receiving $50,000 and a showcase for talent agencies and studios. The company is launching with operating capital of $1 million, funded by Wall Street execs Adam Wachter and Jeff Parket and other execs. Wachter is chief operating officer, and Parket is chief financial officer. David Greenblatt, who co-founded Endeavor, will serve as an adviser to contest winners and mentor them through the process of meeting agents, managers and studio execs. SeeFlik has tapped half a dozen industry vets to serve on its Judge's Awards panel -- Michael London, Shane Black, Angelo Pizzo, Keir Pearson, Robert Kamen and Suzanne de Passe. The Fans Favorite competition will employ "American Idol"-style voting, in which the winning short is determined by the number of votes received. "SeeFlik puts in one place a great forum for emerging filmmakers to be discovered," Greenblatt said. SeeFlik has also signed up nearly 20 film schools as affiliates to cover various forms are marketing including schools at Florida State U., NYU, Syracuse U., UCLA and USC. The competitions are not limited to students and alumni from the affiliated schools, and SeeFlik plans to expand the network of film schools. To be eligible, films must be original and no longer than 25 minutes. Contestants enter by uploading films digitally to the SeeFlik site. Contact Dave McNary at dave.mcnary@variety.com

London Theater Turns England's Riots Into a Drama
LONDON (AP) It sounds like a tough sell for an evening out: Come relive the London riots. But that is the offer currently packing audiences into London's Tricycle Theatre, a small venue that has built a big reputation with fact-based plays about divisive issues, from Guantanamo Bay to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan."The Riots," which opened this week, vividly recreates the mayhem that raged for four nights in August through the testimony of real people residents, police, politicians, community workers and the rioters themselves.Director Nicholas Kent said the play was intended to take the place of a public inquiry into the riots, which the government has declined to hold."It didn't have to happen," Kent said. "That's the thing I totally took away from our work on the play."It seemed to us important to explore the reasons for the riots and people's motivations and what happened and what our response was to it as Londoners and how we could prevent something like that happening again."The riots were triggered by the fatal police shooting, in disputed circumstances, of 29-year-old Mark Duggan in the working-class London district of Tottenham on Aug. 4. The play shows how Duggan's death led, partly through accidents and missteps, to Britain's worst civil unrest in a generation. The mayhem across London and other English cities left hundreds of millions of pounds' worth of property damage, as well as pain and questions, in its wake.Writer Gillian Slovo and her researchers taped 56 hours of interviews with everyone from police officers on duty in Tottenham that night to community leaders, young looters and a man left homeless by arson. They even heard from two people imprisoned for rioting, who wrote to the theater with their stories after the Tricycle put an ad in a prison newspaper. The conservative Daily Mail newspaper criticized the company for giving criminals a voice, but Slovo said the rioters' viewpoint was vital."I do think it's important for us to listen and to see how they got caught up, what they think about it afterwards and what provoked them to do it," she told BBC radio. "Because otherwise how can you make sure that this won't happen again?"Although a few senior politicians including London Mayor Boris Johnson and Home Secretary Theresa May declined to participate, many agreed to give interviews, as did top police officers. Kent said many police and politicians were as shocked by the riots as most Britons, and wanted to learn the lessons.Kent, who has led the Tricycle since 1984, plans to step down next year. Under his leadership, the 250-seat venue in a scruffy part of north London has gained international acclaim with documentary dramas and verbatim plays which mold real people's words into compelling theater. In 2003, "Justifying War" recreated the legal inquiry into the death of David Kelly, a weapons expert caught up in a storm about the British government's case for war with Iraq. The next year, "Guantanamo Honor Bound to Defend Freedom" drew on the testimony of terrorist suspects detained at the U.S. naval base in Cuba. The play transferred to London's West End and ran off-Broadway in NY.Although the theater has a left-wing reputation, it has won fans in high places. Earlier this year "The Great Game," its cycle of short plays covering 200 years of Afghan history, was summoned by The Pentagon for a command performance for senior U.S. defense officials and military brass.London critics were enthusiastic about "The Riots." The Independent called it a "taut, illuminating two-hour show," while the generally conservative Daily Telegraph praised it as "thought provoking and admirably evenhanded."The play is a patchwork that asks more questions than it answers: Was it a race riot? Was it protest or criminality? Were street gangs or government cuts to blame? Could it happen again? There are no comfortable or easy answers, but plenty of striking details that have the ring of truth and often humor as well. The play conveys how different the experience of the riots felt, depending on vantage point. It captures the distress of victims, the fear of police officers holding the line against a mob, and the excitement of participants caught up in the mayhem."It looked like Hollywood had come down, set up everything to look like a mad war zone," says one anonymous rioter, wide-eyed with excitement.Another boasts of his haul from looting: shoes, electronics and a Harry Potter DVD box set. "I don't even like Harry Potter."The emotional heart of the play is provided by Tottenham resident Mohamed Hammoudan, who fled his apartment with his two young sons after rioters set the store below it ablaze. Compellingly played by Selva Rasalingham, he is reflective and wry, describing the surreal experience of standing amid rioters watching his home burn to the ground. He also gets the last word, when he is asked for three words to sum up the rioters. After a long pause, he replies: "Just angry people.""The Riots" is at London's Tricycle Theatre until Dec. 10.Copyright 2011 Associated Press. What are the Secrets of 'Hugo'? (And 24 Other Urgent Questions)
This Thanksgiving weekend, 'Hugo' -- a movie that is being marketed to children, that was directed by the guy who once filmed a scene of a man having his head crushed in a vise -- will be released at a theater that's at least within driving distance of where you are sitting right this second. What is 'Hugo'? Why should you see 'Hugo' instead of, or along with, other family fare 'The Muppets' and 'Arthur Christmas'? As a service we answer every question that you could possibly have about Martin Scorsese's 'Hugo.' Q: Is this the movie with the dog? A: You have two things wrong here: You're thinking of Steven Spielberg's 'The Adventures of Tintin,' which you're then confusing with Rin Tin Tin. Q: So the dog's name is 'Hugo'? A: 'Hugo' is not about a dog. Hugo Cabret (Asa Butterfield) is a young boy who lives in a Paris train station. Q: Why does Hugo live in a train station? A: Because his father (Jude Law) died in a fire, leaving Hugo parentless. He's sent to work for his uncle (Ray Winstone), who also happens to have a serious issue with alcohol. Q: How many films has Jude Law been in this year? A: Including the upcoming 'Sherlock Holmes' sequel, just three. Which is his limit since the Jude Law Movie Regulation Act of 2004 was passed. Q: Is Hugo's uncle violent? A: No. Just absent and unreliable. Hugo takes it upon himself to continue his uncle's job of winding the clocks at the train station. Q: Why would Hugo continue to do this? Is the train station compensating Hugo? A: Hugo does not seem to be getting paid for his efforts, but he does use his time at the station to steal parts to fix a broken automan that he and his father had been working on before his father's death. Q: Oh, I remember Automan. It was a television series in 1983 staring Dezi Arnez Jr. A: No, in this case, an automan is a mechanical man who, once wound, can perform certain tasks. In this case, Hugo's automan can write. Q: What does the automan write? A: Well, that's what Hugo wants to find out. He thinks it might be a message from his dead father. But his plans are thrown of course when he's caught stealing by Georges Méliès (Ben Kingsley) who turns Hugo over to the local train station inspector (Sacha Baron Cohen). Q: Oh, does Sacha Baron Cohen reprise his role as... A: No. Before you even ask, stop. Q: Wait, the director Georges Méliès? A: Well, yes. And Hugo soon befriends Méliès' Goddaughter, Isabelle (Chloe Grace Moretz). Q: Is 'Hugo' one of your favorite movies of the year? A: Yes. Q: What can you say to convince me to see 'Hugo'? A: Nothing. Because you won't. And most likely you have no idea that this movie is intended for you, not young children. Q: Wait, does a gangster have his head squashed in a vise at any point during 'Hugo'? A: No. 'Hugo' is certainly safe for children, but as the movie progresses, its central plot changes drastically. Q: How does the plot change? A: It becomes less a movie about Hugo and more a movie about Georges Méliès. I do fear that the more I say, the less surprised you will be while watching 'Hugo.' Q: Because the dog, Tintin, shows up? A: Oh for fuck's sake, Tintin is not a dog. Again, that's Rin Tin Tin. Q: Ah, so Rin Tin Tin makes a surprise cameo? A: Yes. Exactly. That's the big surprise: Rin Tin Tin, a dog that's been dead for 50 years. Q: Will anyone see 'Hugo' this weekend? A: That's the problem: If people knew more what 'Hugo' is about, they'd most likely be more inclined to see it. But, unfortunately, the more that's revealed about 'Hugo,' the less a person would enjoy the experience. Q: Will you make an unnecessary analogy? A: Sure! It's as if I were trying to sell you a clump of Play-Doh (I'm going on the assumption here that kids love Play-Doh) only hidden inside the Play-Doh is Georges Méliès. Q: Is Hugo the best 3-D you've ever seen? A: Yes. Q: Is 'Hugo' Martin Scorsese's best work in the past ten years? A: Yes. Q: What film made you happier upon leaving the theater: 'Hugo' or 'The Muppets'? A: The joy from 'The Muppets' was more intense, like I had just smoked an entire bag of Fun Dip. (I'm originally from Missouri, we smoke our Fun Dip to prepare for our eventual Crystal Meth addiction). But 'Hugo' left me with a more warming, all encompassing type of happiness. (You know, like from heroin.) Q: Will most patrons choose to see 'Hugo' in 3-D? A: Most patrons will not only skip out on depth, but will most likely skip height and width, too. Q: If you could pick your own quote to be blurbed in the commercials for 'Hugo' this weekend, what would you pick? A: "'Hugo' is en fuego" Mike Ryan, Moviefone Q: Um... you realize that doesn't rhyme, right? A: It's close. And I thought it was clever: you know, sticking with the French theme and all... Q: No, it's not. I mean, really, it's not close at all. Also, that's not even French, it's Spanish. A: Eh, fuck it. You can contact Mike Ryan directly on Twitter. 'Rocky: The Musical': Sylvester Stallone Announces New Venture With Klitschko Brothers
Ach du lieber, Rocky sings? Yep, and he'll likely be belting out the movie anthems 'Gonna Fly Now' and 'Eye of the Tiger' -- except in German. The boxing champ will hit the stage in an all-new musical that will debut first in Hamburg. Sylvester Stallone, along with world champion boxing brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, announced the project on Monday in Cologne, Germany. Said Stallone about the musical: "Rocky is a love story and he could never have reached the final bell without Adrian. To see this story coming to life on a musical stage makes me proud. And it would make Rocky proud." The Klitschko brothers will co-produce and train the actor selected for the lead. The world debut of the German-language production will be in Hamburg in November 2012 and Stallone then plans to take the English version on tour around the world. Tapped for the task of bringing Rocky to musical life? Thomas Meehan ('The Producers') will write the script, while 'Ragtime's' Tony-award winning lyricist Lynn Ahrens and composer Stephen Flaherty will tackle the musical side of things. Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers set to direct. The first 'Rocky' movie won three Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director in 1976. Opened up November. 21, 2011, examined November. 20. Runs through Jan. 13, 2012. Running time: 2 Hrs.With: Patti LuPone, Mandy Patinkin, Paul Ford, John Beal."Old folks sit around through the tv, sighing one perpetual sigh," based on Kander and Ebb's song "Old Folks," which opens the 2nd act of "A Night Time With Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin." LuPone and Patinkin aren't old folks, except possibly to theatergoers very young or 20s, and they're still vibrant entertainers. However the atmosphere of "old folks" -- along with a nostalgic, sit-around-with-buddies-in-the-living-room feeling -- spreads throughout the affair. Enjoyable and sweet aren't words you may ordinarily connect with one of these two, however their Broadway concert is both. The happy couple -- who first starred opposite one another in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Evita" in 1979 -- bring a number of the old miracle towards the Barrymore, most noticeably when he sings "Oh Exactly what a Circus" and she or he sings "Don't Cry for me personally Argentina," both from "Evita." Additionally they each reprise among their other signature amounts. However the relaxation from the evening is showtunes, most of which seem sensible originating from LuPone and Patinkin yet others of that do not. The show is moored by extended portions of "South Off-shore" and "Slide carousel." They are type of interesting, somewhat like watching two Broadway stars stretching themselves in scene class. (It's difficult to express what someone not really acquainted with these Rodgers and Hammerstein classics will make of those clips-with-song, but it is unlikely that somebody not really acquainted with "South Off-shore" and "Slide carousel" would wander into "A Night Time With Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin.") With all this exercise, one does not anticipate seeing LuPone's Nellie Forbush or Patinkin's Billy Bigelow, although Patinkin has got the makings of the effective Emile p Becque in "South Off-shore." The happy couple became a member of together for any personal appearance ten years ago and labored it into an action they have been touring between gigs since. Hence the easy setup: a black stage with Steinway along with a couple of chairs, a lengthy rectangular scrim for lighting and 28 ghost lights of different dimensions and colours for decoration. No orchestra, naturally for the reason that they frequently play one-nighters. This isn't a hindrance, as pianist Paul Ford and bassist John Beal, a couple of present day finest theater music artists, are a slave to in Mandy's family room. Or stage right, rather. NYers have previously days seen concerts not just from Hugh Jackman in the Broadhurst, but Audra McDonald and Cheyenne Jackson on separate dates at Carnegie Hall. Many patrons continue to be speaking about these nights and would go in a go for any repeat viewing. LuPone and Patinkin have been in exactly the same rarefied class of theater stars, however their present vehicle is basically likably friendly. Through the years, have sometimes had well-promoted battles using their collaborators. Here, together, they're involved in an appreciation fest and therefore are nothing otherwise very comfortable. Therefore we get LuPone and Patinkin without their edge, which might be considered a positive thing. Contact the range newsroom at news@variety.com

Google gaga for slice of music biz
Google product manager Paul Joyce talks in the launch from the Google Music service in La on Tuesday.
Mounting a belated challenge to Apple's dominance from the digital music retail market through iTunes, search giant Google revealed its full music service, named Google Music, in a press conference in La on Wednesday. Google released a music cloud-storage service in invitation-only beta in May and it has now opened up that service as much as all U.S. citizens customers can store as much as 20,000 tunes within their personal cloud "locker" free of charge. More particularly, the organization introduced it would begin selling music through its Android Market, with all of music purchases added immediately towards the cloud and on all connected Web and mobile products. "Other cloud music services think you spend to hear music you have. We do not,Inch stated Jamie Rosenberg, Google's director of digital content for Android, inside a not-so-veiled search at Apple, whose similar Match service charges a $25 annual fee. Label groups taking part in Google's retail option include Universal Group, The new sony Music Entertainment and EMI, in addition to large indie groups for example Merlin, the Orchard and Beggars Group. Google has yet to achieve a contract with Warner Group, whose content won't be immediately available. "We anticipate adding new partners because they decide to come onboard," stated Zahava Levine, Google's director of content close ties. Google's retail site, as shown, isn't particularly not the same as Apple's, with tracks varying in cost from 69 to $1.29. Site will offer you numerous exclusive tracks from the kind of the Moving Gemstones, Coldplay and Busta Rhymes (who had been sitting within the audience in the conference), in addition to daily giveaways. Executives recommended a chance to share bought music with buddies around the company's Google+ social networking platform. Upon purchasing a track or album in the Android Market, a person can send a streaming copy by utilizing Google+ or entering individual emails, and readers can pay attention to full suggested tracks and albums once through free of charge. T-Mobile customers can also get a choice of adding Google Music purchases for their monthly phone bill. Another critical distinction involves Google Music's ease of access to artists who self-release music. While iTunes requires a middleman (may it be an archive label or perhaps a digital distributor for example TuneCore) to put music in the marketplace, Google allows bands to upload music directly for sale, in addition to determine and alter their very own prices. While Google like a company certainly has got the heft to challenge Apple, unseating iTunes will nonetheless be considered a tall order. ITunes has already established approximately ten years to determine itself because the world's biggest music store, and also the distinctions that Google has attracted should be viewed as slight enhancements for an established model. The lack of WMG content (which in fact had a 20% share of the market this year) may also hurt, especially as that submissions are broadly on iTunes and Amazon . com and through on-demand streaming services. Steven Spielberg Is One Step Closer To Directing Epic Moses Film
Now that Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin has made its world premiere and his Christmas drama War Horse is already garnering Oscar buzz, the director is free to plan his next epic directorial project. According to Deadline, the filmmaker is considering getting biblical with Warner Bros. for Gods and Kings, a gargantuan film that will chronicle Moses’s entire life. Are you interested in Spielberg’s take on the Old Testament? The project, based on a sweeping script from Michael Green (who created Spielberg’s upcoming television series The River) and Stuart Hazeldine (Paradise Lost), will encompass the biblical figure’s life, chronicling the Jews’ emancipation from Egypt, the Burning Bush and the Ten Commandments. While Spielberg has reportedly not had any formal meetings with Warner Bros., he is interested in overseeing Gods and Kings. Of course, with a filmmaker as busy as Spielberg, the issue is not interest but availability. Currently, Spielberg is filming his political biopic Lincoln, which stars Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th president of the United States. Next up, the director is slated to tackle the robot apocalypse feature, aptly titled Robopocalypse. He is also attached to a variety of other projects in executive producer capacity including Men In Black III and Jurassic Park IV as well as television projects Terra Nova, Smash and The Talisman. If Gods and Kings comes to fruition, it could be our generation’s The Ten Commandments. And if it doesn’t, we may just have to leave the Old Testament adaptations to Mel Gibson, who has teamed up with Warner Bros. to develop a film about Judah Maccabee. Whose Old Testament retelling would you be more interested in seeing? (Jewish leaders, we already know your answer.) · Warner Bros Goes To The Mountaintop For Moses Epic [Deadline]
And Now a Final Word About Jack and Jill
Glenn Kenny didn’t quite make the cut in last week’s scathing critical responses to Jack and Jill, but his withering postscript deserves a look: “One thing I did not get into in my review of Jack and Jill for MSN Movies was just how (ostensibly) insultingly sub-pro forma is its actual filmmaking. It isn’t even just a matter of how obviously its indifferent redemption-narrative structure is the Avid-enabled equivalent of a very sloppy butter sculpture. The indifference is felt in almost every aspect [… T]his is the first time it really hit home for me just how mindful Sandler, director Dennis Dugan, and the rest of the perpetrators are with respect to keeping overhead down. Good lord.” [Some Came Running]

Amanda Seyfried May Play Porn Star Linda Lovelace in New Biopic
First it was Kate Hudson. Then potentially Olivia Wilde. Now it appears Amanda Seyfried may star in 'Lovelace,' a new biopic about the life of infamous porn star Linda Lovelace. Variety reports that Seyfried is in talks to lead the Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman-directed film, with Peter Sarsgaard negotiating to play her abusive husband Chuck Traynor. Epstein and Friedman ('Howl') were reportedly first discussing the roles with Hudson and James Franco earlier this year. The pair called their film a "nontraditional biopic" which would focus on how Lovelace's tragic life birthed the current climate of celebrity. "The seeds of celebrity culture were just beginning to sprout then, and while the phenomenon of Linda Lovelace feels so familiar with all the Web celebrity stuff we're inundated with now, but back then it was really something new," Friedman to the Los Angeles Times in April. "There was also the evolution of sexual consciousness in this country, and she became the poster child for various phases of that." Lovelace starred in the 1972 porn film 'Deep Throat,' which was a huge financial success despite its racy content. Traynor met Lovelace when she was just a school-girl, and -- following their divorce -- she alleged that he coerced her into the porn business. In her later years, Lovelace became an anti-pornography advocate; she died following a car accident in 2002. 'Lovelace' is not to be confused with 'Inferno,' the Linda Lovelace biopic that Lindsay Lohan was set to star in last year; Lohan was replaced by Malin Akerman, and that film is still in some stages of development. Seyfried is currently onscreen in 'In Time.' [via Variety] [Photo: Getty] Follow Moviefone on Twitter Like Moviefone on Facebook RELATED

Top Chef: Just Desserts' Matthew: I Felt Such as the Odd Guy Out
Top Chef Just Desserts: Matthew Matthew Petersen required a risk also it did not repay. Not even close to a showpiece specialist, the very best Chef: Just Desserts finalist elected to create a sugar showpiece rather than a chocolate one - that they was acquainted with - within the finale, simply to have mind judge Johnny Iuzzini criticize him to take the gamble. "I desired to achieve that to possess a chance," he informs TVGuide.com. "It isn't something I actually do. I make plated desserts. I do not make showpieces. ... However I was totally stoked [with the way it switched out]. It had been standing! It looked good and most importantly, I had been happy with it." See what else he needs to say about being the underdog, why he did not want sous chefs and coming Gail Simmons' mind with speculoos.Top Chef: Just Desserts' Orlando: I apologize basically came off because the villainWere you surprised Chris won? Matthew: Well, I wasn't sure in the judges' perspective. But quite honestly, that type of finale was ideal to Chris and Sally simply because they did that type of a contest before. They have both done major competitions like this and that i just felt such as the odd guy out because I do not do this and that i never really cared to achieve that, and so i was the underdog. It had been frustrating after i discovered exactly what the challenge was since it wasn't things i desired to do, however i did not possess a choice. I needed to put my happy face on and enjoy it.Johnny belittled you for carrying out a sugar showpiece since you are at ease with chocolate. Would you regret doing sugar? I seem like should you have had done chocolate, they might just switch it and say you should have taken more risks.Matthew: You're right! [Laughs] Which was the way in which I figured about this. I am at ease with chocolate, so from my perspective, basically might make that sugar piece look much better than other things within the room, i quickly were built with a better shot at winning. I desired to consider every shot I possibly could because Sally had Orlando. Had she not selected him, I would have selected him, and so i understood I desired every millimeter I possibly could reach go forward of individuals two.Did you've got a large amount of trouble which makes it?Matthew: Oh, sure. There's items that you learn when you are along and also you make individuals things day in and day trip. However I don't [make sure they are] normally. I recognized a few things i should and should not did. I am talking about, it's one of individuals what exactly you need lots of knowledge about. I recall asking Orlando a couple of questions by what I ought to do. He was gracious enough that helped me to.What have you think about Sally getting Orlando essentially make her whole showpiece?Matthew: I'd mixed feelings at that time, but quite honestly, whenever you consider it, they gave us sous chefs to complete stuff for all of us. Guess what happens? Whether it was her vision and she or he stated, "Go get it done,Inch then kudos to her because that is what you need to do like a chef. I actually do it every single day in the restaurant. I tell my cooks I want this, might another factor, plus they go get it done. That's the actual way it is.VIDEO: Are Simply Desserts' Gail Simmons and Johnny Iuzzini up for any Top Chef crossover? Can you used Orlando within the same capacity had you reached choose him?Matthew: Oh, obviously! Without doubt! And they could be demeaning you for depending on him.Matthew: [Laughs] Yeah, most likely! However it would have been awesome because I would have learned something on the way. My showpiece would have looked 100 occasions better. How have you use Megan and Carlos?Matthew: Well, I needed the 3 people versus one another. I did not want sous chefs. I did not want help. I needed to complete everything myself, and so i would be a little frustrated that people got sous chefs because I felt like I'd set my build up personally to get it done. I had not arrange it to ensure that others may help me. When others were introduced in it, it type of put me for any loop and that i wasn't quite ready to delegate. ... It type of pissed me off. I attempted to place a great spin onto it and provide them stuff to achieve that I understood I wouldn't have to pay much focus on. I'd Megan scaling stuff out for me personally and that i would assemble it. I'd Carlos focus on more intricate things because I understood his body of labor much better than I understood Megan's, and so i reliable him doing the greater intricate things. No offense to Megan. It is simply my degree of knowledge of their capabilities. [Carlos and that i were really close and that i desired to get him to on my small team. You had been surprised they gave you sous chefs? They have usually cut back past participants as sous chefs.Matthew: Yeah, I had been and that i wasn't. I felt getting the MOFs [Meilleur Ouvrier p France titlists] there is type of our sous chef factor, then when we arrived the 2nd day, I had been prepared to do everything work myself. I had been really surprised after i saw the relaxation from the participants standing there, however i did the very best which i could.4 reasons we are sweet on the top Chef: Just Desserts Season 2Are you obligated for their services?Matthew: Uh, well, It would have looked pretty bad [basically had not]! [Laughs]The idol judges did not much like your plated dessert presentation. Was the playground layout something you had been set on from the beginning? Matthew: Which was my vision right from the start. I could've stiffened up after and managed to get neater. A variety of it came lower to execution throughout plate-up time. It had been, like, 10, 12 steps on each plate and also you multiply that by 10 or 11 people, that's lots of steps to complete within, I believe we'd, fifteen minutes. I believe I bit off a bit more than I possibly could chew by using it and that i could not allow it to be look the way in which I needed, and so i most likely should have simplified it a bit and managed to get a bit more refined.Do you consider you possessed additional time for that dessert? Sally could not complete her spheres.Matthew: I am unsure since you take a look at my dish and also you take a look at Sally's dish, and i believe she attempted to behave a la minute, which wound up biting her within the butt. But her dish really was simple in the manner it looks, then when you consider it, it's like, she should have had time for you to assemble it and managed to get look great because in the finish during the day, it had been a sphere, a canal and i believe there is a streusel along with a cream around the plate. I am unsure in which the fault lies - most likely using the chefs!Had you been surprised Gail did not understand what speculoos was? Her mind was completely blown.Matthew: [Laughs] Really I had been. I believe the only real ones who understood it were Johnny and Hubert [Keller]. Everybody else was type of tossed because of it, which surprised me since it is a very traditional French spread cookie. I came across it a few years back and I have been deeply in love with it since. I personally use it virtually every fall. This is exactly why I needed to make use of it - I understood it had been something obscure that does not everyone is aware of, and so i was happy they loved it.What exactly are you so far?Matthew: I have just concentrated on work ... and merely trying to puzzle out the following best factor for me personally. Clearly, I wish to ride this gravy train as lengthy when i can and extremely bring some contact with the restaurant and things i do. We have implemented a dessert-tasting menu at CityZen. ... It is a three- or four-course dessert-tasting menu at our bar and it will likely be inspired by what's happening within the menu, however it will not be things around the menu, so each time you are available in, you will have different things. And clearly, it'll change using the seasons. That's something I have always aspired to do for a long time and that i seem like CityZen is the best platform for your, so I am certainly likely to begin working more about that.

Glee: The 10 Best and 10 Worst Performances
Glee We know. With hundreds of numbers to choose from, the only appropriate reaction to such a list is: Only 10 best performances? Are there such things as "worst" Glee performances? Our omissions are even more stunning, but know they were mighty tough calls. "Somebody to Love" or "Keep Holding On"? There's only room for one power pop ballad that moves you to tears. Kurt, we salute your inspired "Single Ladies" moves, but that song wasn't so much sung as it was danced to. "Proud Mary" was so good, but in terms of jaw-dropping performances from Artie, we had to go with another. How Glee boss Ryan Murphy plans to win you back in Season 3 What did make the list? Mercedes, singing with supreme attitude; Rachel, doing Barbra justice; Vocal Adrenaline, clobbering New Directions; and plenty more candy for the eyes and ears. Less fun was choosing the least inspired performances. Quinn should never attempt Motown; Lauren should never sing, period; and sorry Puck, but we weren't too moved by your ode to Beth. Without further cheerleading (or lamenting), click here to read the list! (Also, since "Don't Stop Believin'" is indisputably the greatest moment in the history of Glee, we agreed to leave it off and buy ourselves an extra "best" spot. Just go with it.) John Malkovich Delighted By Role As Siberian Mobster
VILNIUS, Lithuania -- John Malkovich says his latest acting role, an aging Siberian mobster trying to raise his grandson to be an honorable crook, proved to be a delightful experience. The movie, Siberian Education, is set in Trans-Dniester, now a separatist republic between Moldova and Ukraine, though filming of the U.S.-Italian production took place in Lithuania and wrapped up this week. Malkovich plays Kuzja, an old recividist exiled to Trans-Dniester along with numerous other ex-convicts by Soviet authorities in the waning years of the Soviet Union. Kuzja tries to teach his grandson Kolyma the films main protagonist, played by Lithuanian actor Arnas Fedaravicius the arcane rules of criminal morals. It is an interesting story about the way of life that most of audience would not know about, Malkovich said Friday before leaving Lithuania. Things are so much global and Americanized. Its interesting to think of that kind of (criminal) culture that the film addresses is kind of becoming extinct. I found this experience delightful, he added. The film is based on a memoir by Nicolai Linin, also called Siberian Education, that was critically acclaimed for its portrayal of childhood innocence amid a community of violent men who romanticize their criminal life. Malkovich, 57, praised Italian director Gabriele Salvatores for balancing his instincts with those of the actors. It is certain that Gabriele has terrific balance between knowing what he wants and being willing to be surprised. Thats not the easiest balance to have, but I think better directors have that, he said. I think directing is a terrible job. Its an awful lot of pressure, and I think the part the actor should bring is to give your best performance, your best opinion, but to bring something to work instead of making the director always tell you what to do, Malkovich said. As a director I find that very tiresome, he added. Copyright 2011 by Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. Kirstie Alley: I Want Love, Not Sex!
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Kirstie Alley has a new bod, and shes now looking for a new man! The easiest thing on this planet is to [find sex], but I dont see the merit in that, the 60-year-old actress, who recently dropped an astonishing 100 pounds, told People. What Im looking for is someone who loves me deeply, Kirstie, who recently strutted her new figure during NY Fashion Week, continued. And is madly in love with me, for me. The actress, who has been divorced twice, is looking to take responsibility for both the good and the bad in future relationships. I think when you get into the mind-set of, Oh, this guy did this to me, you arent taking responsibility, the star, who has teenage children son True and daughter Lillie with second husband Parker Stevenson, told the mag. In the final hour, its actually what you did to you. Shes also hoping to find a guy who can step up for her if needed. I wasnt looking for the right thing before, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant said. I want someone who has my back. And if Im being attacked, they fricking attack back. Now, thats bravery. Controversy Erupts Over Russias Oscar Entry
MOSCOW - The Russian film community is waiting for the solution to a major controversy that has erupted over Russia's entry in the foreign language Oscar race, as actor/director Vladimir Menshov, head of the national Oscar committee, called on Nikita Mikhalkov to pull out his film, Burnt by the Sun 2: Citadel, approved by a majority vote. "I'm waiting [for Mikhalkov to respond], but the film is being prepared to be sent out," Menshov told a news conference in Moscow on Wednesday. "Formally, the procedure was observed." In accordance with the Russian Oscar Committee rules, Mikhalkov has until Oct. 1 to pull the film out. On Wednesday, he was not available for comment. Earlier this week, the majority of the Russian Oscar committee members voted for Citadel, but Menshov's vehemently opposed the decision. "Even if we ignore the fact that audiences and critics hated the film, Citadel is part of a series," he was quoted as saying by Moskovskiye Novosti daily. "How can anyone who is out of the context make any sense of it?" Citadel, which was released last May, was one of the year's biggest flops at the Russian box office. The $45 million second part of the Burnt by the Sun 2 saga grossed only $1.5 million in local theaters. Meanwhile, back in 1995, Mikhalkov's Burnt by the Sun, to which the current film is a sequel, won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. "I believe in NY theater," Sanders said. "It's why I choose to live in NY. I just think it's exciting as hell to be here."Susan Stroman presented the award for best director to Leslie Kincaid Burby for "The Navigator," produced by the WorkShop Theater Company, and Jeanine Tesori presented the award for outstanding production of a musical."Thank you for the applause," Tesori graciously said after an extended welcome, joking that she recommended applause after a long day of working and parenting. The ceremony also featured four special awards, including an honor for outstanding stage manager, presented to Laura Schlachtmeyer. The IT Awards is the only organization to give an award for stage management, according to executive director Jason Bowcutt. Horse Trade Theater Group received the Ellen Stewart Award, Robert Patrick received the Artistic Achievement Award, and Flux Theatre Ensemble received the Caffe Cino Fellowship Award.A new award was announced for next year. Starting in 2012, the IT Awards will present the Doric Wilson Emerging Playwright Award, in honor of the renowned Off-Off-Broadway playwright, who died in May.As the evening wore on, the host made sure the attendees weren't too worried about missing that night's TV shows. "I'm missing the roast of Charlie Sheen!" Greenbaum mocked, as an audience member shouted "Winning!" "I don't want to spoil it for you, but he's a douche."Finally, celebrated playwright and screenwriter John Patrick Shanley presented the award for best production of a play. After poking fun at his own beginnings in Off-Off-Broadway and calling the audience "failure-loving lunatics," he revealed why the work is important."I love the theater," Shanley said. "Why? Because I'm crazy."The complete list of nominees and winners is below.
