Glee: The 10 Best and 10 Worst Performances
Glee We know. With hundreds of numbers to choose from, the only appropriate reaction to such a list is: Only 10 best performances? Are there such things as "worst" Glee performances? Our omissions are even more stunning, but know they were mighty tough calls. "Somebody to Love" or "Keep Holding On"? There's only room for one power pop ballad that moves you to tears. Kurt, we salute your inspired "Single Ladies" moves, but that song wasn't so much sung as it was danced to. "Proud Mary" was so good, but in terms of jaw-dropping performances from Artie, we had to go with another. How Glee boss Ryan Murphy plans to win you back in Season 3 What did make the list? Mercedes, singing with supreme attitude; Rachel, doing Barbra justice; Vocal Adrenaline, clobbering New Directions; and plenty more candy for the eyes and ears. Less fun was choosing the least inspired performances. Quinn should never attempt Motown; Lauren should never sing, period; and sorry Puck, but we weren't too moved by your ode to Beth. Without further cheerleading (or lamenting), click here to read the list! (Also, since "Don't Stop Believin'" is indisputably the greatest moment in the history of Glee, we agreed to leave it off and buy ourselves an extra "best" spot. Just go with it.) Watch videos from Glee When you're done, feel free to tell us how right - and wrong - we were in the comments below. We can take it. A new episode of Glee airs Tuesday at 8/7c on Fox. John Malkovich Delighted By Role As Siberian Mobster
VILNIUS, Lithuania -- John Malkovich says his latest acting role, an aging Siberian mobster trying to raise his grandson to be an honorable crook, proved to be a delightful experience. The movie, Siberian Education, is set in Trans-Dniester, now a separatist republic between Moldova and Ukraine, though filming of the U.S.-Italian production took place in Lithuania and wrapped up this week. Malkovich plays Kuzja, an old recividist exiled to Trans-Dniester along with numerous other ex-convicts by Soviet authorities in the waning years of the Soviet Union. Kuzja tries to teach his grandson Kolyma the films main protagonist, played by Lithuanian actor Arnas Fedaravicius the arcane rules of criminal morals. It is an interesting story about the way of life that most of audience would not know about, Malkovich said Friday before leaving Lithuania. Things are so much global and Americanized. Its interesting to think of that kind of (criminal) culture that the film addresses is kind of becoming extinct. I found this experience delightful, he added. The film is based on a memoir by Nicolai Linin, also called Siberian Education, that was critically acclaimed for its portrayal of childhood innocence amid a community of violent men who romanticize their criminal life. Malkovich, 57, praised Italian director Gabriele Salvatores for balancing his instincts with those of the actors. It is certain that Gabriele has terrific balance between knowing what he wants and being willing to be surprised. Thats not the easiest balance to have, but I think better directors have that, he said. I think directing is a terrible job. Its an awful lot of pressure, and I think the part the actor should bring is to give your best performance, your best opinion, but to bring something to work instead of making the director always tell you what to do, Malkovich said. As a director I find that very tiresome, he added. Copyright 2011 by Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. Kirstie Alley: I Want Love, Not Sex!
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Kirstie Alley has a new bod, and shes now looking for a new man! The easiest thing on this planet is to [find sex], but I dont see the merit in that, the 60-year-old actress, who recently dropped an astonishing 100 pounds, told People. What Im looking for is someone who loves me deeply, Kirstie, who recently strutted her new figure during NY Fashion Week, continued. And is madly in love with me, for me. The actress, who has been divorced twice, is looking to take responsibility for both the good and the bad in future relationships. I think when you get into the mind-set of, Oh, this guy did this to me, you arent taking responsibility, the star, who has teenage children son True and daughter Lillie with second husband Parker Stevenson, told the mag. In the final hour, its actually what you did to you. Shes also hoping to find a guy who can step up for her if needed. I wasnt looking for the right thing before, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant said. I want someone who has my back. And if Im being attacked, they fricking attack back. Now, thats bravery. When Taylor Lautner Wept
I know we all kind of visualize Taylor Lautner as a big strapping serving of beefcake and cheese, but the Abduction star is sensitive, too. Controversy Erupts Over Russias Oscar Entry
MOSCOW - The Russian film community is waiting for the solution to a major controversy that has erupted over Russia's entry in the foreign language Oscar race, as actor/director Vladimir Menshov, head of the national Oscar committee, called on Nikita Mikhalkov to pull out his film, Burnt by the Sun 2: Citadel, approved by a majority vote. "I'm waiting [for Mikhalkov to respond], but the film is being prepared to be sent out," Menshov told a news conference in Moscow on Wednesday. "Formally, the procedure was observed." In accordance with the Russian Oscar Committee rules, Mikhalkov has until Oct. 1 to pull the film out. On Wednesday, he was not available for comment. Earlier this week, the majority of the Russian Oscar committee members voted for Citadel, but Menshov's vehemently opposed the decision. "Even if we ignore the fact that audiences and critics hated the film, Citadel is part of a series," he was quoted as saying by Moskovskiye Novosti daily. "How can anyone who is out of the context make any sense of it?" Citadel, which was released last May, was one of the year's biggest flops at the Russian box office. The $45 million second part of the Burnt by the Sun 2 saga grossed only $1.5 million in local theaters. Meanwhile, back in 1995, Mikhalkov's Burnt by the Sun, to which the current film is a sequel, won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford Are 'Hopeful' About Indianapolis 5
In a free screening of 'Raiders from the Lost Ark' in downtown La on Tuesday evening, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford stated they're "hopeful" about creating a fifth Indiana Johnson film. Although, possibly inside a search at 'Indiana Johnson and also the Kingdom from the Very Skulls' alien plot, Ford introduced that his alter ego "ain't likely to Mars." "Perhaps a fifth..." Ford stated. "The next time we obtain a script for Indiana Johnson, I'd be delighted to experience the smoothness. Every time we meet him, we desired to advance the audience's knowledge of the smoothness, not only by putting him in adventures, but by learning something about him...that is what brought towards the meeting of his father [in 'The Last Crusade'], performed by Sean Connery, and the boy [in 'Kingdom from the Very Skull'], performed by Shia [LaBoeuf], and getting Marion [Karen Allen] back." Whenever a fan within the audience whooped in the reference to a fifth film, Spielberg joked, "I believe this is the one we did not alienate using the 4th." Other facts in the evening: Spielberg first got the concept to cast Ford as Indianapolis when he was viewing a tough cut of 'The Empire Strikes Back,' and needed to talk George Lucas into seeing Ford as anybody apart from Han Solo. When Ford joked that Spielberg only has ever cast him as Indiana Johnson, Spielberg was adamant he'd first offered the role of Alan Grant in 'Jurassic Park' to him. Question how Mike Neill feels about this? Spielberg also described his (formerly mentioned) reason behind not trying out his earlier films, a stance which will please fans who're so annoyed by friend Lucas's constant revisions to his movies: "I attempted this once and resided to be sorry. Not due to fan outrage, but because I had been disappointed in myself. I acquired excessively responsive to [a few of the reaction -- including parents who was simply under happy with the guns within the film] to 'E.T.,' and that i thought if technology developed, [I would use and alter several things]...it had been OK for some time, however i recognized things i tried was I'd conned individuals who loved 'E.T.' of the reminiscences of 'E.T.'" Hear, hear. Spielberg then questioned the crowd, who extremely chosen for that original 'E.T.' to become launched on Blu-ray. How awesome is Spielberg for giving fans the film versions they remember? And would you like to visit a fifth Indiana Johnson film? [via ScreenRant] photo thanks to Getty Images for AFI

An Obsessive Help guide to George Clooney's 'Ides of March' Press Conference
Press conferences really are a fixture of existence in Washington and Hollywood alike. George Clooney's approaching movie, 'Ides of March,' showing now in the Toronto Worldwide Film Festival, is really a dark morality tale occur the field of American presidential politics, therefore it is only fitting he would decide to discuss it within the setting of the press conference, where Canadian entertainment reporters could funnel their inner Mike Tappers and request "gotcha" questions of Clooney and the star-studded cast. Moviefone's Michael Hogan and Mike Ryan sitting in about the event and dissected it for the pleasure and, possibly, edification. Hogan: So, Mike, we simply sitting with the 'The Ides of March' press conference, that was charged because the media's only chance to speak to George Clooney about his latest directorial effort. What have you think? Ryan: My first thought: I'm a straight male, but George Clooney is an extremely, excellent-searching guy. Yes, some of the people asking them questions appeared to talk about that opinion. You can tell using their shaking voices (and knees). Either these were in awe of Clooney's aura -- or Canada is simply truly the best place on the planet. Honesty, 90 % from the questions were, "Hello, George. Will it be OK basically kissed your ass for any couple of seconds?" Yes, although I had been interested in another 10 %. Clooney's devilish disdain with this process got me considering how journalists really fall under three groups: those who need to make you say something stupid, those who wish to prove how wise they're, and those who would like you to definitely love them. Have you see him roll his eyes at some point? After which there is the complete takedown of among the journalists. In my opinion his title was Paul. Which was the man who dared to create up Clooney's personal existence. Clooney really required enjoy openly shaming him: "I am disappointed in your soul.Inch I kind of love how Clooney will get it not only for both but every way: he lives a 13-year-old boy's fantasy in public places, then ascends our prime equine whenever anybody brings up. It's really type of awesome. I have never experienced an area before with somebody that is the fact that media savvy. Not really close -- and that we were in an area with Kaira Pitt today. However I suppose he needs to be. I stored tabs on who does get requested more questions: Clooney or "The Area" from the other eight participants -- including Ryan Gosling. Clooney won twelve to 10. And bear in mind, a few occasions the moderator forced individuals to request "The Area." Yes, it's obvious that everybody else would be a little bored, or intimidated, or both. And we are speaking in regards to a group that incorporated perhaps the greatest rising star of at this time (Ryan Gosling), two Oscar those who win (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei), another guy who had been nominated (Paul Giamatti), along with a dude with almost every other award there's (Jeffrey Wright). And that we both observed that Max Minghella never stated just one word. Poor Max. I almost requested, "Hey, guy, you OK available online for?" Talking about bored: who had the greater "I am pissed to become here" face, Giamatti or Hoffman? It had been a defunct warmth between Giamatti, Hoffman, Tomei, and, for whatever reason, Gosling, who stored moving his eyes again and again again. He seemed to be VERY annoyed in the female reporter who joked (lamely) that Clooney could not be leader due to the ladies and also the drugs. That upset his Canadian sensibilities. Guess what happens else upset his Canadian sensibilities? Being requested if 'The Ides of March' works like a Canadian political thriller and being requested if he'd ever run for Canadian political office. It appeared as if the man desired to scream, "I do not reside in Canada any more, you f*cking hosers!" Since he's bulked up to the stage where it could have been feasible for him to single-handedly defeat the whole audience in hands-to-hands combat, I am sure it had been difficult for him not receiving all Florida on our asses. But could we discuss clothing? Apparently, in Hollywood, getting an Oscar means never needing to put on a jacket. Quite simply: Getting an Oscar means you are able to put on a smart whitened tennis shirt. Also getting an Oscar means that you could tease Evan Rachel Wood about fondling her underneath the table and everybody thinks it's amusing. (Also it was.) Yeah, which was awesome. For individuals playing in your own home, Evan Rachel Wood was speaking about how exactly great Clooney is, after which stated, "George is handing me money underneath the table." (He'd already designed a large show of passing Gosling cash throughout an identical routine.) Clooney stated, "That isn't money," which got an extremely real-sounding squeal from former Mrs. Marilyn Manson. I must accept what Gosling stated about Clooney: finding yourself in an area with him is much like watching a unicorn being born. That's most evident. Another factor I figured was interesting: which stars required the bait when journalists requested loaded questions. Clooney themself dodged the greatest one -- which politician have you model your character on? -- but Evan Rachel Wood went right ahead and accepted that they really wants to direct! Talking about Evan Rachel Wood: I felt like among the press questions -- and that i should include that the question I am considering was requested with a female -- would be a tad sexist. She and Tomei were both requested, "That which was it like chilling out during the night with one of these males who get a lot attention?" Which felt enjoy it was requested inside a "While our boys are fighting in Europe, what's happening to assist the war effort?" type of way. Yeah, which was a strange question, though I truly loved it when Evan Rachel Wood gave the men that backhanded compliment by stating that she was raised with large siblings and felt confident with older men. Clooney was noticeably wounded by that certain, which may be a little sad if his occupation were anything apart from worldwide superstar. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention my absolute favorite area of the event. Once the moderator requested Marisa Tomei -- who plays a brand new You are able to Occasions reporter within the film -- had spoken to the real existence Occasions reporters on her research. He then breaks and states, "Like Judith Burns." Clooney's a reaction to that could be during my top listing of favorite things ever. Yeah, Clooney only agreed to be incredulous. Which was one of many moments where I thought Clooney feeling the discomfort to be maybe the wisest part of the whole entertainment world. It had been around that point which i considered asking him the question, "That do you dislike more, political figures or journalists?" But like a journalist, I truly don't wish to be aware of answer. Me either. Get more information at much more of Moviefone's Toronto Worldwide Film Festival coverage. Photo: AP
Matt's Help guide to Weekend TV: Torchwood and Cinemax Finales, Plus 9/11 Programming
Rebirth Most everybody takes note of where these were ten years ago on September 11, once we viewed the terrible images and tales unfold. Ten years later, most gather while watching TV again to look at, remember, reflect - and also the broadcast and cable systems are providing an array of special offers to place the tragedy in perspective. There is however plenty else happening on television a few days ago. Here's my undertake a few of the more notable highlights, such as the major 9/11 programming: FRIDAY Here's an unpredicted treat from Cinemax. Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Back Together Again (9/8c) is not a tent revival from the oddest comedy act you won't ever heard about. It's essentially an hour or so of friendly, funny onstage talk between two simpatico stories: the comedy genius behind Blazing Saddles, Youthful Frankenstein along with other classics, and also the famous talk-show veteran, who had Brooks like a guest numerous occasions (ergo the "Back Together AgainInch). They share amusing show-biz anecdotes and reminiscences, as well as in a wonderful aside, Brooks' old buddy Carl Reiner seems in the audience to bring back their "2000-Year-Old Guy" shtick. [Personal aside: After I carried out an identical conversation with Reiner this spring in La, Brooks was right in front row, and other alike miracle happened. You will not wish to miss it.] Want more Matt Roush? Sign up for TV Guide Magazine now! Let me are convinced that the finale of Starz' Torchwood: Miracle Day (10/9c) redeems the uneven season, but despite numerous explosive occurrences on opposite sides from the globe, it is something under a (to gold coin an expression) "blessing." Among the climactic twists - really, several - had me howling: not in grief or shock, however in befuddled frustration that the respected franchise choose to go to date from the rails. Still love Captain Jack and Gwen and would follow them almost anywhere, but unless of course installed the remains of the chapter of the mythology in it and end up forgetting America ever happened, they might have to do it yourself for some time. SATURDAY Among the styles of the weekend's 9/11 coverage may be the healing energy of music. Putting that thought into action is Paul McCartney, the candid and charming subject from the vérité documentary The Romance We Make (9/8c), by which veteran filmmaker Albert Maysles follows the first kind Beatle around New You are able to dads and moms following the attacks, because he propagates cheer to fans while organizing an exciting-star "Concert for brand new You are able to City" in Madison Square Garden several days later. Footage in the concert (which is broadcast in the six-hour whole on VH1 Sunday mid-day, beginning at 4 pm/3c) is intercut with unguarded moments backstage. Photography can also be a significant part from the 9/11 legacy. A&E's Portraits From Ground Zero (10/9c) spotlights photojournalist Andrea Booher, among the couple of permitted limitless use of Ground Zero dads and moms following the attacks. She tracks lower subjects from a few of her more effective photographs and learns their tales. Seeking an illusion rest from all of this harrowing reality? BBC America's Physician Who (9/8c) is satisfied to oblige having a Rory-centric episode because he comes to save the day of Amy Pond, held in a quarantine facility for sufferers of the alien plague. (Just in case likely to Contagion a few days ago does not match your longing for may be.) ... Or you might sample Syfy's latest crazy Saturday evening monster movie, Jabberwock (9/8c), starring Battlestar Galactica/Doll house fan fave Tahmoh Penikett, also assigned to save the lady he loves - within this situation from the animal (its title obtained from Lewis Carroll) with "your body of the dragon and also the mind of the nasty insect." SUNDAY Coverage of Sept. 11 events (most beginning at 8 am/7c) is going to be on all major systems, with anchors and reporters covering in the Ground Zero site in New You are able to City, the Government in Washington, D.C., and also the site from the Flight 93 crash near Shanksville, Pa. In prime time, CBS' an hour (7/6c) will devote its entire hour to 9/11 coverage, and ABC presents a "exclusive editionInch of 20/20 (10/9c) entitled "Remembrance and Renewal." Other 9/11 highlights: At exactly 8:46 am/7:46c, commemorating as soon as when Flight 11 crashed in to the first tower, Cinemax will air Beyond 9/11: Portraits of Resilience, a stark assortment of recommendations including children who steered clear of previously mentioned the impact zone from the second tower. An identical approach is taken by Showtime's elegiac and moving documentary Rebirth (9/8c), meeting with five subjects during the last ten years - some who lost family members within the attacks, another who had been seriously burned and went through numerous major surgical procedures - because they continue with their shattered lives. These sometimes wrenching, ultimately hopeful tales are interweaved with stunning time-lapse photography in the Ground Zero site, because it returns to existence. (Which are more comprehensive survey from the renovation, Discovery's absorbing six-hour Rising: Repairing Ground Zero is rebroadcast within an 18-hour loop about the Science Funnel on Sunday, beginning at 11 am/10c.) CBS updates probably the most harrowing documentary accounts around the globe Trade Center attack in 9/11: ten years Later (8/7c), a amazing eyewitness account from documentarians who have been following New You are able to firefighters and located themselves in the center of the experience, taking exclusive video including a few of the first responders' save efforts prior to the towers' collapse. It is the ultimate "You're There" remembrance. USA Network goes the television-movie route using the Space Between (9/8c), starring Melissa Leo (Oscar champion for that Fighter) like a flight attendant grounded in Texas following the attacks, who embarks on the message-laden journey to New york city hoping of getting back the ten-year-old Pakistani boy in her own charge together with his father, who works in the World Trade Center. This really is immediately then the Oscar-winning documentary short Twin Towers, from Dick Wolf, about two siblings, one a firemen and something a policeman, who died once the towers flattened. Both air commercial-free. Also: TCM will get within the spirit, filling prime time with classics selected beginning with responders, beginning at 8/7c using the timeless Casablanca, then Mister Roberts, the racially billed war film All of the Teenagers and Red-colored River. ... In case your tastes run toward the classical, PBS' Great Performances (check local entries) presents A Concert for brand new You are able to, recorded Saturday evening in a free concert at Avery Fisher Hall, by which Alan Gilbert conducts Mahler's stirringly symbolic Symphony No. 2: Resurrection. Sunday's other large TV event is HBO's curtain demand its summer time series, beginning with True Bloodstream (9/8), which I have been loving recently because it went completely and garishly bananas throughout the vampire-witch war. Now that crazy Marnie's spirit has possessed Lafayette - how quickly before he pukes that bitch out? - expect all hell to interrupt loose all over again on Samhain, holy day for that Wiccans of Bon Temps. On Curb Your Enthusiasm, Ray has it with neighbor Michael J. Fox, which needs to be a riot, so that as Entourage finally reaches "The Finish," we'll find out if things exercise for Ari and also the Mrs., and Eric and Sloan, and Vince and Sophia. And when you really care, I commend you for the loyalty. Finally, on the new Breaking Bad (10/9c, AMC), the strain is constantly on the achieve the breaking point for nearly everybody, including an embattled Gus, a desperate and distrustful Wally, a flummoxed Jesse - which week, Skyler, giving Anna Gunn an opportunity to flex her considerable chops like a economic crisis intends to reveal the cash-washing shenanigans in the vehicle clean. Her ingenuity brings some welcome comic relief (though not without some suspense) to a different difficult hour that finishes on the pivotally confrontational note. Sign up for TV Guide Magazine now!

John Walsh To Bring Most Wanted To Lifetime
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Just weeks after FOX dropped Americas Most Wanted after more than two decades, its creator-host, John Walsh, has a new home for the show on the Lifetime network. The deal, announced jointly on Tuesday by Walsh and Lifetime, will return to the air Walshs weekly criminal roundup, which since 1988 has helped bring almost 1,200 fugitives to justice. The series will return for its 25th season later this year. Americas Most Wanted is a seminal program that provides a very valuable service to both viewers and law enforcement agencies, said Lifetime president Nancy Dubuc. For more than two decades John Walsh has been leading the fight against crime and its an honor to partner with him on bringing back this important show. Weve often been called the court of last resort, Walsh said. Now we are back in the game and ready to saddle up for another season to get justice for victims and put dangerous criminals behind bars. In May, FOX announced it was axing AMW, citing high production costs. At the time the network said it would present four quarterly specials in the coming season. The first of those specials will air in October, and FOX will follow it with the remaining three, Walsh said. But FOXs final weekly AMW was telecast in June. We kept the hotline and website up, and weve caught four guys, Walsh said. The viewers didnt give up on us. Since then, Walsh had been in talks to find a new network. The deal with Lifetime was completed Tuesday afternoon, he said. It was in 1981 that Walsh launched his crime-busting crusade in the aftermath of the abduction and murder of his 6-year-old son Adam. He became an outspoken advocate for tougher laws against sex offenders, more cooperation among law enforcement agencies, and citizen involvement in flushing out fugitives. He was a former hotel executive with no TV experience, but his TV show premiered in April 1988 on the fledgling FOX network and, little more than a year later, it was the first-ever FOX program to rank first in viewership in its time slot. It remained a fixture on the network after that, and during the 2010-11 season, was seen by an audience averaging 5 million viewers. In a happy coincidence, on Saturday, Walsh will get a special Emmy Award saluting his show. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will give Walsh its Governors Award at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony in Los Angeles. The honor goes to a person or organization that makes a substantial impact or demonstrates an extraordinary use of television. Copyright 2011 by Associated Press.
