The Rum Diary gets a trailer

The Rum Diary might have spent the better part of a decade stewing in its own juices, but from the look of its first official trailer, it will have been well worth the wait. Adapted from Hunter S. Thompson's raucous yarn by Withnail & I's Bruce Robinson, the film follows the exploits of boozed-up journalist Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp) as he stumbles upon a story of corruption and intrigue in Puerto Rico.Take a look at the trailer below, courtesy of Movieline:What stands out to us immediately is that Robinson's script looks extremely funny ("how does anybody drink 161 miniatures?"), and better still, Depp appears to have knocked the Keith Richards impersonation on the head for this one.Aaron Eckhart also appears as the slippery businessman upon whom Ross is looking for dirt, and Amber Heard stars as his sexy younger girlfriend. A frantic shower scene between her and Depp looks certain to set pulses racing in multiplexes up and down the land. The film will arrive in UK screens on 4 November. If you want our advice, you'll seek out a cinema where they allow you to take a drink into the screening. It seems as if that was how it was meant to be enjoyed!

What's Her Line? Rooney Mara Gets Pointy in Latest Images From Dragon Tattoo

There’s been precious few sightings to date of Rooney Mara in character as Swedish punk-rock bisexu-hacker Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Which can only be a good thing; there’s only so much toplessness a marketing campaign can really withstand in the far-off months leading up to release. But what’s this? New Rooney? Fully clothed, hooded and pointing at a dude? Ooh la la, let us at it. (Bonus: Daniel Craig and Christopher Plummer, also fully clothed!) I kind of love Mara’s photo, which debuted today at Empire Online. What glorious, Steve Zaillian-scripted words could accompany this gesture? “That is a terrible hairpiece, son.” Or, “Get out of my movie, Colin Firth.” It could be anything. Plummer seems shocked about the Firth-a-like as well. You tell me? [via /Film]

"What we must remember is the fact that Ghostbusters is larger than anyone component, although Billy was absolutely charge and contributive into it inside a massive way, as was the director and Harold [Ramis], myself and Sigourney [Weaver]," he stated. "The idea is a lot bigger than anyone role and also the commitment of Ghostbusters 3 is the fact that we obtain to hands the gear and also the franchise lower to new bloodstream." STORY: Ivan Reitman Talks 'Ghostbusters III,' 'Baywatch' Movie and 'Private Parts' Follow up The storyline line, based on Aykroyd, will focus on the initial Ghostbusters' lack of ability to effectively bust ghosts any longer, so that they set to find new recruits. "My character, Ray, has become blind in a single eye and may't drive the Cadillac," he states, "He's got a poor knee and may't carry the packs. ... Egon [Ramis' character] is simply too large to get involved with the harness. We want youthful bloodstream which's the promise. We're gonna hands it to an alternative generation." It's unclear if the 4th Ghostbuster, Ernie Hudson, would participate the cast. In April, the actor stated he was not contacted by anybody within the project. "I haven't seen anybody with anything, however i listen to it's happening, and that i've been reading through all of the press stuff, and also the fans happen to be saying it's on," he told TMZ. Desperate Housewives' Executive Producer and Cast on the Final Season: All Bets Are Off

Desperate Housewives Birth. Death. Marriage. Divorce. Tornadoes. Shootings. Plane crashes. Cancer. Yes, the women of Desperate Housewives have been through a lot. But they ain't seen nothing yet. "You get to do story lines that you wouldn't otherwise do because you don't have to worry about the ramifications," executive producer Bob Daily tells TVGuide.com of the series' final season. "So people can move, people can die, people can have babies and you don't have to worry about the babies growing up. It will definitely change the way we approach the back-half of the season." Marc Cherry: The end of Desperate Housewives is "bittersweet and lovely" Series creator Marc Cherry and ABC boss Paul Lee announced Sunday that the upcoming season would be the last for the sudsy drama. Although the series still performs ratings-wise (last season averaged 11.8 million viewers), cast and crew appreciate the advance warning. "Something that Marc and I have been talking about for a couple years now is: How do we end the show in the classiest way possible where it doesn't feel like we're being pulled off stage, that we're going out on our terms?" Daily says. "Marc felt very strongly, in particular, about letting us know in advance so we can plan the season." According to Daily, the main story line already in progress for Season 8 will hark back to the first season in a big way, including more on-screen appearances by series narrator and long-gone housewife Mary-Alice (Brenda Strong). "The end of the first episode is a big sort-of tie-in to the DNA of the show so fans will really enjoy the little drop at the end of the first episode," Daily says. "We did that thinking, if it were the last season, it would be a nice bookend." Dana Delany: I would love to return to Desperate Housewives As the show draws to a close, prepare to see many more old characters returning to Fairview. "One of the things I'm definitely looking to do this year is bring some of the old favorites back. Some of the kids; like I'd love to bring back Julie. We have to find a way to bring as many people back. Maybe not early in the season, but down the road a little bit." Marcia Cross already has her own list of familiar faces she wants to see back on the lane one last time. "I do want to see all of my fellas again," she says. "I have had the best male co-stars. I want them all back, dead or alive, so even it's just a fantasy, dream sequence." The other big question is how the cliff-hangers set up at the end of last season - Lynette and Tom's split, Bree's new relationship and Carlos' accidental murder - will weave into each character's larger farewell. "I'm sure there are things that they knew the viewers want, which is for Tom and Lynette to get back together. But I do like that it's kind of up in the air and maybe they won't," Felicity Huffman says. "Maybe outrageous things happen. Maybe one housewife kills another housewife. Maybe Tom shoots Lynette in the head. I don't know." Check out photos of the Desperate Housewives cast Despite the high body count on Housewives over the seasons - thanks in big part to the show's infamous disaster episodes - such a gruesome ending doesn't sound very likely. "Because people have such a kinship with these characters, we feel very protective and there's not going to be an explosion. We're not going to kill them all," Daily says. "We want to make sure people feel like Wisteria Lane is going to be taken care of." The cast may already be planning their own exodus, but they still admit to being surprised by the news, including Huffman, who says she first heard of the show's impending demise from Cross. "Hope springs eternal. It could have gone for two more years," she says. Daily, however, is confident the show is going out at the right time. "It's a family and it's always hard to say goodbye. But nobody said to me that they thought it was a bad idea," he says. "Now everybody is excited to give it a great send-off." Desperate Housewives returns on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 9/8c on ABC.

EXCLUSIVE 'Paul' Behind-The-Scenes Featurette Shows Seth Rogen's Floating Head

Ever wonder how loveable funny guy Seth Rogen was transformed into a big-headed, small green alien in this year's "Paul"? Well, thanks to this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip MTV News has from the "Paul" DVD, you can find out (the disc, the Blu-ray and the On Demand film arrive August 9th). Stars and co-writers Nick Frost and Simon Pegg explain the footage shown in the video, which feature samples of an early edit where the character Paul was just Rogen's floating head from his separate rehearsals. It was a way for the crew to get a sense of Rogen's role in the movie, even though he wasn't acting it out. "Seth is the character, so they've shot him in rehearsal with various angles, with the other actors, but we've just got to put him into the scenes," explained editor Chris Dickens. "Essentially, I've just used the rehearsal and I've just put him in a little box." The featurette also includes a chat with Pegg and Frost after they first saw the footage with Rogen included, and then after the movie had been released in theaters. Let's just say their opinions of the flick changed a bit between the two viewings. "We're seeing Paul for the first time and we haven't before as the people who invented him," Frost said after he saw the first edit. "It's fine to watch a film with a weird floating head of Seth Rogen on the screen, which is what Paul has been up until this point." And after the fact? "Seeing it now, it's hard to imagine the film without him in it, and it's also hard to remember him not being there, because he looks so much like he's there," Pegg said, before joking, "We weren't there. We're digital. We're CG." Frost added, "Paul was there every day, but we weren't." Are you planning on getting the "Paul" DVD when it hits shelves August 9?
